Hi! I'm Lorraine Loots.
I'm a South African artist known for my tiny, detailed watercolour paintings. What started as a small side project—365 Paintings for Ants—unexpectedly grew into a global phenomenon, bringing me hundreds of thousands of followers and exhibitions from New York to Hong Kong.
Even though I stepped away from art for a while, I found my way back through the quiet ritual of painting one miniature a day—a practice rooted in nostalgia, practicality, and paying attention to the small things.
Today, my work continues to celebrate the beauty of detail, memory, and intentional creativity, and I’m so excited to share what I’ve learned with you in this course.
I consider myself a very calm, observant, and patient person. I also have a lot of passions such as exploring nature, sketching outdoors, and discovering small details in everyday life, but most of all, I love teaching watercolour painting and sharing the magic of miniatures!
